Memorable Hill walking Hiking in the Scottish Highlands

Geordie Henderson:   Your Walking Guide to Scotland

For the average hill walking enthusiast who is looking for a memorable trip in the Scottish Highlands

We will pick you up from Perth Scotland, at an agreed time on Sunday morning, and return you back to Perth the following Saturday afternoon. Whatever package you have booked on, we will hopefully take all the stress and worry away from your trip as your accommodation will have been arranged along with your breakfast, and a packed lunches for you while out on your days walk.

The evenings will be left for you to decide on how and where you want to spend them, but your guide will give you best advice on the location where you are staying at the time.

Then the following day you will be collected again from your B&B and taken on that days walking trip and fully guided throughout your days walk.

A little information about myself now.

I became qualified as a “Joint Service Mountain Expedition Leader” in 1990. Then a few years later as an  Army Rock Leader multi pitch climber in 1995.

These Qualifications allowed me to lead Army Expeditions anywhere in the world below the permanent snow line. To go above the permanent snow line I would need to progress through the winter Mountain courses, which I was making progress through and did several winter training courses.

I helped lead on The Swiss Alpine Pass route in Switzerland 200 miles across the Swiss Alps.

I led as a Joint Service Mountain Leader (JSMEL)  in the Northern Thailand Jungle expedition near the Burma border, we started near ChangMai and spent 15 days in the jungle.

I led again as a JSMEL (S) in the Pyrenees going between France and Spain again another 15 days in the Pyrenees mountain region.

I did not progress to become totally winter qualified as with promotion came other responsibilities in my work place. Also Operational Tours restricted the opportunities to develop further in the winter field.

However I have got experience in living in Snow holes and winter mountaineering, also the experience gained through three months in winter operating in Norway where the temperatures would often be below – 24 deg C

Once I left the Army in 2003 a lot of civilian outdoor employers don’t recognize Army qualifications, so in 2003 I re did the civilian version of the rock climbing ticket the SPA which is a single pitch award. In 2004 I also re did the civilian Mountain Leader qualification. These courses are run basically the same as the Army run qualifications.

After leaving the Army I have worked as an Outdoor Instructor and apart from the mountaineering side, I have also qualified as an Off Road 4X4 instructor, Quad bike instructor, Archery and Air rifles, and I have run a  High Ropes Course at Crieff Hydro.

I have worked for other walking companies taking guided walks on the hills, and I have gained a lot of experience in lots of different locations of Scotland.
